Textured and ebonized ash pot.  The dramatic piece is hand-turned, textured with a beading tool, charred by fire, and wire-brushed.  The interior shows the natural color of the ash wood, contrasting dramatically with the blackened exterior. 
 
It is once-turned from green wood.  Using still-wet wood produces wonderful and unique results, because the wood can move in unpredictable ways as it quickly dries.  This technique highlights the nature of the wood itself and produces natural, organic vessels.  The effects here include fissures around the pith.
