Partially spalted bowl of hackberry wood. The spalting, which is the change in pigmentation due to fungal activity, adds a great deal of character to this medium sized bowl. The naturally formed hole from rot adds even more. It was once-turned with green wood, allowing for some nuanced movement to the piece as the wood dried. This is seen in the slight undulations in the rim.
